Another great day in the books. We rode 74 miles back to Cumberland State Park. This is base camp and we are doing like a figure 8 of this region of Tennessee.
On paper today looked like an easier day versus the last 2, but pretty much everyone I have asked has said it was harder than yesterday. We had a lot of rolling hills that never seemed to end. Pictures below.
I woke up at 4:30 this am, because some knucklehead set his alarm and then let it go off for about a minute before he turned it off. I got up around 5:00. And truly have been getting enough sleep since I am in bed around 8:00 or 8:30 each night, and it's dark out, and no internet, so you go to sleep because you have a hard day ahead again tomorrow.
Here is an example of a rolling curvy hill.
A rest stop at another church, this one had a welcome sign out front. All of the small community's have been very welcoming and warm to us.
It's hard to see in this picture, but the Park Rangers and some city and county police are out in full force to help protect us. He has his lights on (flashing blue) to help us turn left and to let us know to turn. They cruise the roads as well with their lights on at all time to help bring awareness to the cars that we are out there.
More going up
Lots of private ponds on private property.
More rollers.
Look out for the Amish.
Look closely, a nice down hill coming but a big hill to follow.
This station is used during deer and bear season for the hunters to register what the killed. We just used it for refueling.
Crossville had several of these blinking signs that said "caution bicyclists ahead" for some reason all of the words aren't lit up at the same time in the picture??
Tonight I am a little away from the noise, although my site has a slope to it.
Tomorrow is an optional ride day. You can chose from several hikes, rappelling or a ride. I will probably do the ride.
And we have cell service tonight, so that is good. See ya.
